NBEO Debuts First Computer-Based Testing (CBT) Exam
Part II of the NBEO is now computer based exam. On April 3rd, 2012, 197 candidates took the first CBT exam, 129 candidates took the full Patient Assessment and Management exam and 68 others took the Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease. The next big group of students is set to take the CBT Part II scheduled on December 4th, 2012. The test will be administered at one of the 200+ Pearson VUE test centers located throughout the United States and Canada. Registration for Part II will open on August 1, 2012 and the deadline for registration October 2, 2012.
Results of the March 2012 Part I Applied Basic Sciences Scores
NBEO Part I was given on March 20th – 21st, 2012. A total of 1,811 candidates took the exam with 1,458 passing the exam. The overall pass rate was 80.5%.

What to Expect When You Arrive in Charlotte, NC for Part III Clinical Skills Examination
Candidates should arrive at the NCCTO no earlier than 15 minutes before their scheduled appointment time. Check in will begin in the lobby, where registration will take place including: general administrative overview, ID verification, storage of personal items in lockers, assignments of badge numbers and starting stations, and individual photos. Upon the conclusion of the official registration, all candidates will enter the orientation room that contains equipment areas with a complete set of equipment for use prior to the examination.

Once the exam is ready to begin, candidates will be given final instructions and one final opportunity to ask any remaining questions. Each station and its corresponding skills assessment will last 30 minutes. A typical testing session lasts approximately 4 hours, so travel plans should be made accordingly.
