The Optometric Extension Program Foundation (OEPF) continuously strives to connect to optometry students and residents through education, scholarships and involvement with optometry schools everywhere. The OEPF is an international organization dedicated to the advancement of the discipline of optometry through the gathering and dissemination of information on vision and the visual process. They publish Optometry & Visual Performance, as well as many other books and support the practice of visual performance and provide continuing education globally. The OEPF, along with HOYA and GoodLite Company, now brings us the Optometrists Change Lives(TM) Student and Resident Writing Competition as another way to connect with future optometrists.
As a full-time optometry student, you are eligible to enter the writing competition to win a “Vision Therapy Starter Package” of goods and services from the OEPF and GoodLite Company valued at over $500! Participating is easy, especially if you are interested in the topic of visual performance (pediatrics, vision therapy, low vision, traumatic brain injury and vision rehabilitation). It can be in the form of a Case Report, Review Article and/or Article of Discovery (research). Just make sure to follow Optometry and Visual Performance guidelines.
As for you talented Optometry Residents out there, you have the chance to win a scholarship for an OEPF Clinical Curriculum Course. This course scholarship is valued at $2,000! As a full-time resident in an ACOE registered residency program in the areas of visual performance (pediatrics, vision therapy, low vision, traumatic brain injury and vision rehabilitation), the same rules apply. Just submit an original, unpublished paper covering the topic of visual performance with a minimum length of 1500 words.
The deadline to submit your winning paper is January 15th, 2015. Send your submission to the Editor and Chief of Optometry and Visual Performance, Marc B. Taub, OD (mtaub@sco.edu<mailto:mtaub@sco.edu>).
