Join the Optometric Historical Society for the AOA+ Blast from the Past Education Event where 3 student finalists will present on a topic they are passionate about in optometric history and compete for cash prizes based on audience vote. This event will take place on Wednesday, April 30 from 7pm to 8:30pm Central Time. Register on EyeLearn. Students can knock out one of their AOA+ requirements before Optometry’s Meeting®, and if you’re unable to attend Optometry’s Meeting®, you can still receive CE credit for this event. CE earned during this session counts as one of the five required credits for the 2025 AOA+ Leadership Society.

Preserving the profession’s history
The OHS also organizes its annual Blast from the Past event held in conjunction with AOA’s Optometry’s Meeting®. All optometry students are invited to submit an entry about an influential person, event or development in optometry history in any form of media. Finally, the OHS encourages the submission of research, recollections, and letters to its bi-annual journal Hindsight published in cooperation with the Indiana University School of Optometry and available through a free digital subscription or as individual print issues through the AOA Marketplace. To access any Hindsight journal articles, visit here.
The Optometric Historical Society is a program of the AOA Foundation, Optometry Cares, whose mission is to empower the optometric profession in providing awareness and access to health and vision care for the public. To learn more about the AOA Foundation, click here.
