Vision Expo West (VEW) is coming up soon, and if you haven’t been to a Vision Expo event, now is the time to make plans and register! From the exhibit hall with designer frames and cutting edge technology to the continuing education classes and networking, Vision Expo is an amazing and beneficial experience for students. Also, VEW in Vegas every year so there’s definitely no shortage of restaurants and nightlife to unwind at!

What benefits do students get? Free exhibit hall registration ($150), free unlimited continuing education, free student courses, free lunches and networking events, and $100 gift cards raffled off to those who complete their Student Passport. What programs are tailored towards student growth and development?
- Job Link is a new program where you can learn about job searching, interviewing techniques, and building your resume. Unique “Speed Meetings” are held for students to learn face to face with professionals!
- In the Choose your own Adventure course, you can pick any CE you want, learn about it, then collaborate with other students on what you’ve all learned in small groups. Optometrists will help facilitate conversation, including how it applies to your future career.
- Free lunch and lecture: “Are You Dreaming? How to make the practice of your dreams a reality – FAST,” by Dave Kading, OD, FAAO.
Last, but not least, the nightlife! Party at the Hard Rock Cafe on Thursday night, then Club Marchon at the Paris Hotel on Friday night. Saturday night is the Optometry Student Party at the Venetian followed by a Vegas Club Crawl, including a premiere Ultra Lounge, luxurious Limo Party Bus (with an open bar) rolling around to three of the most exclusive clubs in Vegas. Are you worried about the cost for future Vision Expo shows? Vision Expo offers a $500 travel grant for one student at every optometry school! All you have to do is write a 500 word essay on how shows like Vision Expo benefit you the student.
